Tour Guide

Frank Lloyd Wright’s House on Kentuck Knob, a National Historic Landmark, seamlessly integrates architecture and sculpture into the beautiful landscape. Located in the Laurel Highlands of western Pennsylvania, Kentuck Knob, an excellent illustration of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Usonian architecture, is embraced daily by visitors from all parts of the globe.

Frank Lloyd Wright’s House on Kentuck Knob is seeking Tour Guides for each season to provide the best possible experience to each of our visitors.

Training will be held early to mid-February, with our season opening in March. We are seeking guides who can lead tours daily between the hours of 9:30 am and 5:00 pm. Shifts and scheduling are flexible within reason.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the tours of the house and/or sculptures
  • Act as a host at the house as needed
  • Assist in the Visitor Center with various task as needed
  • Have the aptitude and interest in learning the history of Kentuck Knob, Frank Lloyd Wright, and our sculptures
  • Have public speaking ability

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree desirable but not required
  • High level of interest in architecture and art
  • A friendly, welcoming, and patient demeanor is essential
  • Should genuinely enjoy interacting with the public
  • Must be willing and available to work weekends

Shuttle Driver

Kentuck Knob is currently looking for Shuttle Drivers for each season, which begins the first week of March. The shuttle driver position is part-time and seasonal.

A shuttle driver at Kentuck Knob operates the shuttle between the hours of 9:00 am and 6:00 pm between the house and the visitor center.

Drivers must have a valid PA driver’s license.

Applicants must have the ability to learn about the history of Kentuck Knob, Frank Lloyd Wright and sculptures, have public speaking ability and a friendly and welcoming demeanor.

We are seeking drivers that can work between the hours of 9:00 am and 6:00 pm. Shifts and scheduling are flexible. We will be offering a training session in mid-February.

Seasonal Coffee Shop Attendant

Frank Lloyd Wright’s Kentuck Knob, Chalk Hill, Pennsylvania is seeking a friendly, organized and dedicated seasonal Coffee Shop Coordinator with exceptional customer service skills. This position is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys happy tourists, has an interest in architecture, art, and nature, and who wants to work as a team player as well as independently. Must be available on weekends as needed. The position is seasonal, March through November and weekends in December and the week after Christmas. 

Job Responsibilities

  •  Operation POS (Point of Sale)
  • Serving guests ice cream, coffee/tea, bottled drinks, and hot dogs
  • Ensuring that the coffee shop is clean and meets Department of Agriculture Requirements
  • Helping to ensure the Coffee Shop runs in a smooth and orderly fashion
  • Ensuring that there are adequate food and drink supplies through daily/weekly inventory control and ordering of those supplies weekly
  • Entering inventory into POS
  • Must be organized and efficient and have excellent customer service skills

Qualifications

  •  ServSafe Certification or willing to become certified within 45 days of hiring; company will pay for certification costs
  • POS (Quick Books Point of Sale) previous experience; handling of money; opening and closing register procedures
  • NOTE: While previous food service and POS experience is highly desired, applicants who show a genuine desire to learn will be considered
  • High School Diploma
  • Background check prior to hiring
  • Must be friendly and passionate about customer service
  • Team Player
  • Organized and efficient
  • Willing to thoroughly clean Coffee Shop area each day
  • Willingness to work weekends as needed
  • Neat appearance
  • Willingness to learn tour content so to speak accurately and effectively to guests
